Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Varnish

There's a million nail varnishes out there all claiming to be long wear, anti-chip or some new hi-shine formula but its seriously rare that anything ever delivers. Guess what though you little sparkly bastards... I've come across one that does!

The Rimmel Salon Pro Lycra range. It's been about for a while, I'm probably pretty late to the party (as always), but I'm so glad I eventually made it coz this is shit it worth getting outta your PJ's and heading into town for!

I started with the gorgeous neon lilac shade 'Ultra Violet', I'm not usually overly girly when it comes to nail varnish shades. Pinks and purples never overly appealed. However something about this little purple pot just spoke to me. It's been on my nails for about 80% of this month for two reason, 1: I LOVE IT, the colour is gorgeous and 2: IT LASTS FOR FOOKIN' AGES! Seriously... I've never known anything like it. I was abroad for work over a weekend, did my nails on the thursday and didn't get a chance to refresh them till the tuesday eve and all I had was minimal tip wear. I'd been typing, packing, digging about in bags, handling equipment, dragging people outta the sea, hiking up mountains and at a festival. WHAT SWEET MAGIC IS THIS?

NOTE: For those who are interested I used the Orly Bonder Base Coat & Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat with two layers of the Rimmel Salon Pro in between.

Having been so impressed with the 'Ultra Violet' I treated myself to a few other shades. Heading clockwise from the top I present to you : Ultra Violet, Purple Rain, Seduce, Simply Sizzling and Summer Orange.  All of these are wicked. All of them last for days. WARNING: Not every colour in the range is the same, I also picked up a pale pink called 'New Romantic' (very unlike me again.. but I was all hyped up and confident) and it sucked ass. Painted my nails one evening, chips by the morning. It's not pictured because it's not worthy of being pictured. So there. Thumbs down for you Adam & the Ants (anyone? no.. just me?)

With the other shade though the finish is glossy, opaque (with two coats), and like I said, this shit stays! YAAAY!

There ya go guys. A range of nail varnishes that (mostly) does what it says on the tin. Bonus - they are only £4.49 and often on some form of offer.

Stay in school and don't do drugs. Until you are really old and guna die anyway... then it's ok right? I reckon super old age = being vaguely abusive to those who deserve it (and getting away with it), eating vast amounts of anything you want and trying a bunch of random narcotics. You're guna die anyway so what the hell?!? Ok I've gone off on one...

Seriously keep it clean guys.

LOVE. xxx

    1. It's really wicked! The lilac is my favourite, closely followed by Seduce which is the dark deep purple. xxx

  2. I've been hearing SO much about these! I love the purply shades though I also really like the look of the shade Hip Hop as Vivianna Does Makeup always raves about it! I always mean to pick one up but always end up backing out because I have way too much nail polish already!

    1. I'm bloody terrible with nail polish. Fucking awful. It's a weakness. I brought a 99p neon Yellow colour from some brand I'd never heard of at an independent pharmacy the other day... Needless to say it was rubbish. Great colour. Shit forumla. haha. I think I need help! x

  3. Love it!

Do you reccomend any type of product for those of us, myself included, that have a nasty habit of biting nails? Or is it just mind over matter?

    Thanks!

    1. I used to do this allllll the time. To be honest the thing that stopped me was getting braces. haha!

However something you can try is: http://www.boots.com/en/Stop-&-Grow-Stop-Biting_884/?cm_mmc=pla-_-google-_-PLAs-_-Boots+Shopping+-+All+Products

You paint it on your nails and it tastes vile! Worked for my little brother. haha!

Another option is to wear false nails. You cant bite those suckers!

      Love to you 'Muuuurrricans! x

    2. Day 4 update:

That stuff is absolutely VILE! But it's so absolutely disgusting that I haven't touched my nails in 4 days, and they haven't been this long in a long time. So thanks!

    4. Ah! Braces are the only thing that stop me biting my nails aswell! I get them off soon (thank the Lord), so I'm hoping I won't fall back into that habit! If I do, I will definitely be trying this!

  4. Want them all! But so not allowed... My nail varnish drawer needs a serious clear out! But Ultra Violet looks soooo pretty!! Having an Essie Lilacism obsession this month/year, but they look like two completely different shades of lilac and that's totally ok right?!!

  5. I'll try them, and if they work on my nails too, I owe you a huge favor! I love nail varnish, but I'm quite lazy in taking care of it...thank you for suggesting it!

    1. haha! Honestly Bea, give them a go. It's important to have a good base and top coat too though or you'll find all nail varnishes to behave the same way! x
