Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pot

The Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pots have been on my radar for a while. I'd heard good things, real good things, and them good things I dun' heard, well they be justified my loves...

*DISCLAIMER* I'm feeling somewhat sleep deprived after a hectic couple of weeks so this post may be even more outrageously ridiculously written than usual.

Righty Ho. So. The Paint Pot. I picked this little guy up when I had my make up done in the Covent Garden store for an event, you can claim the price of the makeover back against the products. Pretty wicked right? Honestly if you're going to be purchasing a couple of items from Mac anyway then book in and have your face funked up by a professional before your next night out / wedding / event. Might as well eh? It's essentially being tarted up for free if you were already planning on spending yo' hard earned shizzle. BONUS.

Aaaaaanyway. It's good!!! Really good! Let me tell you why...

I've got the shade 'Painterly'. A kind of slightly warm, dusky, pinky sort of nude. That make sense? It's essentially a cream eye shadow that when applied results in a lovely even, soft matte texture. Freakin' fabulous to use as a base for other eyeshadows as it's neutral and lasts all the damn day without creasing (I reckon it'd be wicked for sorting out oily lids too!). As a base it acts as a sort of primer, making powder shadows easier to blend etc. I whack this stuff on after I've done my foundation and my brows, then go in with an eyeliner and whatever shadow combo I'm using. Other days I'll leave it to stand alone and just pop some mascara on my peepers. It's a great nude as is, and being a cream you get a great colour pay off that sticks around from morning coffee to evening G&T.

In fact, days when I'm not putting any make up on at all I'll still sometimes smudge a bit of Painterly across my lid just to brighten my eyes a bit and even out the colouring up there above my eyezballz.

Now, these fuckers are pricey... £15.50. YIKES. Buuuutttt (does any one else ever get the urge to write bottom, arse, bum or derrière instead of but? no... just me?) I'm certain this little 5g pot is going to last me fookin' aaaaaages as you only need a tiny smidge for each application.

The only thing I will say on a possible negative side of things is that I'll be interested to see if it dries up at all over the course of the year. I've had this happen to me with the Maybelline Colour Tattoos, really annoying. Fingers crossed we stay sexy and moist though eh? ... MOIST... eeeewwww.

SQUIDGES AND SMOOCHES. *BARF* xxx

  1. Everybodys raving about it!! When I read the capture I thought 'if that's Painterly again...' I want it!!
I got a couple of the Maybelline Colour Tattos and they're just too glittery sometimes. Is that matt-matt, or matt with a tinie-tiny bit of shimmer?
Hope they don't dry out for that Price! My bronze Maybelline did and there was no Chance to get it in a form that I can put on my eyelids..:(
    Have a nice Weekend!

    1. Painterly is MATTE MATTE MATTE. Good eh? If I want to add a bit of shimmer I just dust over with Stila Kitten or something similar.
Hélène (below) has positive feed back on them not drying out! Woopee!! x

  2. Hi Janna!
I own one of those (Indianwood, which is a beautiful brownish-gold) since the longest time (like... 2 years?) and it's not dried up at all (and still in perfect shape)! It stays as smooth as the first day, at least that's what I've observed. The shade Constructivist makes me drool, it's so beautiful haha. Have you tried the pro longwear concealer? If not, you HAVE to give it a go. It's my fave concealer ever. Pricey but you won't regret it.

    1. oooo now that is good news! I'm sure it'll be fine. I'm treating it super nicely and screwing the lid on tight! haha! I'd love some other shades. Just cant justify dropping that mula right now. Dammit! Havn't tried the concealer. I'm hoping in the next 6 months of so my skin is going to improve (possibly starting a roaccutane journey) and then I'll be able to try out more concealers / foundations etc without fear of reactions and breakouts! x

  3. About getting your makeup done - preach it! Haha, gawd knows I will always take advantage of ANYTHING free. As for the paint pots, I haven't tried them yet but from swatching they're extremely creamy! I agree though, I have a couple of Maybelline colour tattoos and one has started to dry out on me - still useable but it's kinda annoying. The other cream shadow that I love that's really creamy too is the Estee Lauder Stay on Shadow paint. Love that stuff!

    1. The Estee Lauder shadow paint looks luscious. Had my eye on those bad boys for a while now. Christmas list fodder I feel! I'm trying to find a way to make the Maybelline Tattoos usable again. No joy yet but I'll be sure to post if I do! Jx

  4. Hellllooo,

Never even knew about this type of product. It sounds super convenient, and worth the price. I'm now hella excited to go on the search for it and to whip it on my face. I LOVE the shade you have up there. Supa sexy, yes.

Side note -- I don't know if you have already written one about eye brows? But if you haven't, I would LOVE some advice. Eyebrows are my one weakness and my own worst enemy when it comes to the daily grooming routine. I had a BAAAAD BAD BAD experience in Middle school, that will forever prevent me from doing much with them. I just try and tame them from looking like two Chewbaccas on my forehead. If you already have, I will go searching :) If not, i'll just leave this in your little suggestion box in yo brain.

    1. I've totally done an eyebrow post! It was aaaaages ago now but it's actually the same stuff I use now...

I use the pencil on daily basis and the powder with a small angled brush from eco tools (though any would do I'm sure I just like the eco tools one) for evenings, nights out, more dramatic looks etc.

My advice would be go get them done professionally once. Pay that dosh, fork it up, then just keep them in check yourself! You just need some good tweezers and sharp small scissors :) x

    1. I'm all about the free lippy Dee! Hoarding empty containers in a box under my bed. haha!

If you've got any tips on getting foundation out of the studio fix glass jars I'm all ears! I cant shift the stuff. Even bleach doesnt touch it! They still have to accept them if they are dirty right? x

    2. Nope sorry my dear I don't, I would also like to know this... Had the brilliant idea of using those little foundation sample bottles for holidays but nothing would shift the foundation, tried the Mac brush cleanser, surgical spirits, boiling water etc but no budging it..

But you definitely don't need to bring them in all clean and sparkly. I brought back some really old lip glosses and concealer last month and they didn't bat a (fake) eyelash!
