Fresh Footsies.

You know how it's a bit hot at the moment right? Oh... and we are apparently set for a 'heatwave'. Everyone is about to start doing that fucking annoying thing when they chat about it being 'hotter than spain'. Well guess what... I don't give a flying shizzle.

I'm not a massive fan of the heat. Sun I love, but heat... not so much. I get sleepy, I dehydrate and best of all I get a sweaty top lip and end up with what I like to call a 'makeup moustache',  really not very attractive.

I'll use anything I can to combat the sheer ball ache that is attempting to operate at a normal level in London during the summer months and when I found out about Body Shop's 'Peppermint Cooling Foot Spray' I figured I'd give it a go.

I like it. Guys I really fucking like it. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Cools yo' feet! Boom. Spray this on your footsies & tootsies and you'll get an instant tingly coolness that dries quickly and has the added bonus of a gorgeously fresh minty smell. It's no moisturiser, but it doesn't claim to be. It's just a little handbag friendly pick me up you can whip out when the heat gets a little too much.

That's about all there is to it my loves. Spray it on, let out a little sigh, breathe in the minty yum and ready yourself to get back on the sauna they call an underground!

Enjoy your San Fran trip my love. also... reviews still to come but The Body Shop do an awesome foot soak and equally awesome footsies moisturiser. 2. oh gawd, SAME. I'm not a fan of having my makeup melt off & my hair frizz every time I step out the door. although instead of a makeup mustache I get forehead sweat, which is très sexy.

I'm gonna have to give this little guy a go... in addition to forehead sweat, my feet are also sweaty buggers. I just ooze feminine beauty, no?

    1. Ah Maggie. We are all the same. I stand in awe at any woman I see in on the tube with perfect hair / make up in summer heat. HOW DO THEY DO IT? Are they ice cold on the inside? Whats the secret? I'm panting away with a sweat stain on my back caused by my huge and heavy rucksack, make up moustache, and sweaty eyesbrows.... EYEBROWS !!! x

  3. Hey Janna, do you have any other beauty product recommendations for keeping cool?
(The current weather just makes me feel sticky all the time...)

    1. Kinda kills me to say it as they essentially are bottled water but the Eau Thermale from Avéne is nice for a quick refreshing spritz and it's not too bad at around £4.

Then there is always the Caudalie Beauty Elixir which has extra cooling properties due to the mint in it... but that's real pricey and as lovely as it felt / smelt my skin didn't get on with it very well. Brought me out in little pimples. If your face is more robust though then give it a go!x

  4. "...what I like to call a 'makeup moustache'"

Actual LOL to this. I live in Texas and deal with summer temps that hover around 40C. The makeup 'stache struggle is real!

Not sure if you can get this in the UK, but there is a product I use called "OC8 Professional Mattifying Gel" that works WONDERS at getting makeup to stay put. I have tried it under liquid and powder foundations with equally awesome results. I wore some to a wedding in June and was the only person in pictures who did not look like they had just dunked their face in Vaseline. ;)

    1. I canne find the OC8 in the UK. Buggery. Ah well. I have no idea how you deal with that heat girl! I'd be sweatin' like a sinner in church 24/7. Walking home yesterday after a long and super hot tube journey I swear my under eye area was sweating! HOW?!??? HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN!?? haha! I'll try and pick up the gel if I'm in the US anytime soon (unlikely :( ). Do you find it cloggs your pores at all? x

  5. Major suckage! I actually buy it from Amazon, not in stores. Maybe you can get it there? And, no, I did not find that it irritated or clogged pores. In fact, because I wasn't walking around all day with a face that had become a makeupy oil-slick, my cheek hollows, forehead, and around my nose cleared up quite a bit. I was pretty skeptical at first, but after it was recommended to me by a dermatologist and then an esthetician on separate occasions, I felt confident trying it out on the minefield that is my face. I would market it as "bottled shade." It's just that good. The bottle lasts FOREVER, and I no longer have to constantly touch up (read: cake on) more powder throughout the day in order to not look like a Dali muse.

I'll reach out to that esthetician (a friend) and see if she knows of any good dupes that might be more accessible across the pond. In the meantime, good luck with the whole not melting into a puddle on the subway thing. It might be technically hotter here in Austin, but at least everywhere I go, including on public transport, they are blasting super frigid AC. I cannot imagine the unholy perspirational foulness that must be a summer-time tube ride. You go girl. xx
