Guyz. I haz a problem....
... I'm stuck in a rut. A nail based rut. I cannot paint my nails any colours other than grey and neon yellow. They've been the same for about 3 weeks now. I loooooove this combo. LOVE. I've gone to the extent of 'swatching' other colours on nail wheels to try and remind myself that there are other options, but alas! I can not be convinced.
I've also gotten into the habit in the last 6 months or so of painting the last two nails on my right hand a different colour from the rest of them. It's my version of the one accent nail trend. All asymmetrical and shit. I'm sure there's a bunch of peeps out there doing it too and I'm not claiming it's an original thought. It's nice though right?
FYI: I use the Rimmel Nail Nurse Base & Top Coat first, followed by a coupe of layers of a Soigné polish in the shade Le Poivre for the grey (pricey at £11 a bottle but a damned good polish!) and three or four layers of a Gabrini Elegant Provitamin nail polish in some crazy luminous yellow shade that I cannot find available anywhere online. I got it from a bargain bin at a local chemist of mine and no fuck all about the brand I'm afraid or I'd advise on where to find this little beauty. A bunch of places do wicked neons though (American Apparel usually have a good selection). Once the colour is on I finish the whole thing off with a coat of Seche Vite. I know I know... Chemicals... but damn is that quick dry the best thing in the world!

My hands have also recently been adorned with this gorgeous stoned ring from Shop Dixi, it's the Crux Rainbow Moonstone Ring. Pretty eh? That pointy end is a menace sometimes but hey... pain for pleasure and all that. Ha!
Oh aaaaand the kitty cat ring is a gift from a place called The Great Frog. It holds a hell of a lot of sentimental value. If I accidentally leave home without it on (which happens rarely!) I feel a bit odd. Funny how little things do that eh?
That's all folks. xxx
Damn, that's a nice colour combo. I've never really experimented with either grey, nor (neon) yellow polishes. This needs to be rectified! Your rings are adorable as heck also! :P

I'm a big fan of grey. All 50 shades of it. I've never actually read that book... There's way better erotic fiction out there! HA!
DeleteI'm all about the gray. All day, every day. Honestly, I can't be bothered to care about the health warnings with Seche Vite, it's awesome and as long as you are not ingesting it, it will all be fine. People need to chillax.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of mixing pink and yellow together or turquoise and pink but this looks so cool. I have to give it a try. *runs to buy a grey nail polish*

Ah nice. I've never been a pink person. Not a fan in general and it totally dosent suit my skin tone unless I get the shade spot on. Love me a turquoise though. The Rimmel 60 seconds polish greys are really good or the Barry M if you want something a bit less pricey! Jx
DeleteNever really thought about what colours may or may not suit my skin tone tbh. Always been way too much in love with the idea of owning every colour of the rainbow.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips. I fell in love with at least half of the colours Rimmel has...then I had to realize that they won't deliver them to my place.
Oh wellllllll! After running through 3 stores, I finally found a nice grey (Manhatten Quick Dry). Let the painting begin!

I've made too many mistakes with 'nudes' that make me look like I'm hand my hands in an ash tray to not pay attention to skin tone haha!
DeleteHope you get on well with the grey! :) xxx
Luuuuurve the grey one – amazing! I have never tried neon nailpolish bevor. I’m quite monochrome with everything in my life really :D
ReplyDeleteDo you really need three or four layers to get it completely opaque?
And may I ask if you use anything special on your cuticles, they look lovely
Elli X
My cuticles aren't great actually... haha. I think when I go and get a shellac (happens once every few months if I wan to treat myself!) then the lovely lady who does my nails really sorts them out for me. Otherwise I do have an cuticle oil I apply every so often. Mine is from Margaret Dabbs but good cuticle oils aren't hard to find!
DeleteThree / four layers on the neon yeah. But if you used a white polish first you'd be able to just do two I'm sure!

Hi Janna ♥ !
ReplyDeleteWhoaaaa! I fall in love of your rings and this combo is just perfect ^^ ! I hope you have a good day!
Thank you! I hope today is wicked for you! x
DeleteOh Janna, I just have to thank you for advicing Rimmel to me. I went to London last week and since they still don't sell 'em in my country, I got myself 6 different shades (Also, how do you resist buying them all when they have such funny / cute names???). What can I say? I AM IN LOVE. They really dry in like a minute and they look aaaamazing.
