CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON. T'is a dry shampoo that smells bloody fantastic aaaand actually works pretty darn well. WOOHOO!
I'm a recent convert to dry shampoos. Growing out my blonde and dealing with a 3 inch mousey brown halo means that the ends of my hair are dry as bone but my roots get greasy after a long day. Handy huh? Reeeeal sexy. So yeah, dry shampoo has started to feature heavily in my daily routine and has a secured a permanent place in my handbag.
I've tried a whole bunch... Batiste, Tresemmé, Dove, Lee Stafford, Label M and Philip Kingsley. I didn't get on with any of them for various reasons, some had a real overpowering smell, some left a white residue, others just didn't really work overly well. Philip Kingsley came close to being kinda OK, but at over £13 a pop I want to be blown away not vaguely satisfied.
Aussi however, well they've kinda gone and done it.
Everyone knows Aussi products smell freakin' incredible and this is no exception. It's a real pleasure for the ol' schnoz when you're spraying this all over your bonce. Happily the darned thing also actually works! I've found that usually it's a toss up between an alright smell or a decent grasp on grease, but Aussi seem to have managed the miracle combo.
It takes some getting used to as it's 'wetter' than a normal dry shampoo. Sounds weird I know, and it is. It's bizarre. The first time I blasted a bit of this into my roots I wondered what the hell was going on. I'm not sure what it but if you touch your hair straight after applying this it feels wet. Give it about 2 seconds though and that feeling is totally gone. Whats left behind is no residue and no sticky feeling just refreshed roots and a volume boost. You can give it a rub around with your fingers just for added hot mess factor but spray and go works too!
I've only tried the 'Aussome Volume' version, but there are also 'Mega Instant' and 'Colour Mate' options. The volume variety is perfect for my fine and usually rather limp hair, but those of you with thicker tresses might want to go for 'Mega Instant' as it might pack a little more punch.
Its £4.99 for 180ml from Boots but they also do a really handy handbag 65ml version for £2.29.
Boom.

That sounds awesome! Will give that a sniff, I find Aussie sometimes too bubblegummy (is that even a word??), but if it works and gives VOLUME..I Need that in my hair! From everything I've tried so far, Batiste worked best for me. Many Bloggers rave about the Oribe Spray but it's s bloody expensive I wouldn't dare spraying it in my hair till it went off :/
ReplyDeleteKate from gh0stparties talked about the Bumble and Bumble Prêt-à-Powder, sounds and looks amazing, but still pricey..
Got an appointment at the hairdressers this week...oh dear..

I'd freakin' love a go on the Oribe Spray. Just cant justify the expense.
DeleteKate knows what she's on about and bumle and bumle are a wicked brand. They normally get it right!
If Batiste works for you you are on to a winer my gal! Hope the hairdressers goes A-ok! x
I knew I wasn't the only one that doesn't get along with Batiste! I have veeery thick blonde locks, so I never got all of the residue out and looked like I had awful dandruff issues. I shall be giving this a try! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteAre you using a deep cleansing shampoo my love? Best thing for getting rid of product build up!x
DeleteDry shampoo has become a serious staple, though I haven't quite found one that does the job excellently yet though - not that I've really been trying them all. HUGEST IRONY THOUGH, Aussie isn't available here in Australia. Like ???
ReplyDeleteTasha // shiwashiful.
WHAT?? That's really stupid...wasn't the founder inspired by Australia? How can they not sell it there??
DeleteThere is no logic to this! Get it together people! GET IT TOGETHER! x
DeleteDry shampoo...what an interesting concept. Took me a LONGGGG assess time to figure out why people would use such a thing. But after I gave it a whirl, it was like the clouds opened up and puppies and kittens rained down. It is a great new essential to my hair cuuuuur basket of ol' goodies.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried the Aussie brand. But shall give it a whirl since mine just run out.
Peace and Blessings y'all
Ashley
I take dem blessing and I keep that peace Ashley!
DeleteI was sooooo anti dry shampoo for ages. I just feel all gross and icky and unwashed (I guess because I am) when I use it normally. This stuff seems to work though and I love getting a whoft of the sent every now and then.
Tip I learnt : pop it in your tresses the night before rather than in the morning. Gives it time to work it's magic and you end up with a shit tonne of volume! x
Have you tried the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle? Its a amazing for deep conditioning hair.
ReplyDeleteI have indeed! I like it for a quick fix now and then but it doesn't seem to do much for my hair in the long haul. I'm still searching for a wicked hair mask! x
