N.V.A.A. Nail Varnish Addicts Anonymous. Does this exist? It bloomin' well needs to! I have a serious problem. I cant freakin' help myself I swear! I just have to have the ever so slightly paler shade of blue, that shimmer top coat with three different sized gold flecks not two and I most definitely couldn't live without that nude that's nearly identical to the nude I already own but look at the brush... that brush is way better than the other brush... it'll be easier... a time save... aaaaaaand oops. CHECKOUT.

This is a short and sweet confession of yet another polish purchase. I'm a serial spender when it comes to nail varnish and while some disappoint, some are glorious and some, such as Mary Mary Quite Contrary from the Rimmel 60 Seconds range (£3.69 - BOOTS), divide.

The colour is heavenly. A gorgeous pastel lilac shade, with slightly pink/blue hue undertones, almost a paler version of Essie's Lilacism. It compliments my skin tone (very pale), and is right on the money for accompanying spring/summer outfits. However the usually dependable 60 second formula seems to be a lot less viscous in this shade, and visibly streaky with one and two coats. Only after a third coat did I reach an level of opaqueness I was happy with.

So there we go peeps... If you're after a stunning muted tone, and have a little bit of extra time with then  this polish is perfect. Otherwise I'd steer clear or you'll be sporting the streak, or possibly that interesting textured look only achievable when you hit the hay before the many layers of gloop are truely dry... DIY bed fluff manicure anyone?

Have you found much variation within ranges when it comes to the thickness of a formula? Know any similar shades with a less time consuming application? Let me know in the comments below!

  2. Absolutely love this colour! Too bad my nails are inexistent and looks like my hands have been smashed by a hammer or something.. On a completely unrelated note, where did you buy those over the knuckle rings? I've been looking for ages and yours are amazing! x

    1. Thank you so much!

I found the silver rings on the ASOS marketplace. There's an excellent range available from various sellers.
